My hubby is a HUGE coffee drinker, he loves all types. Some of his very favorites are the medium or dark roast coffees, he is not much of a fan of flavored coffees. He will drink a few that are hazelnut or mocha, but is mostly just a regular coffee drinker. Me, well I am definitely more of a flavored coffee drinker and not so much for the regular coffee, unless I can have some kind of flavored creamer in it. Usually if I drink regular coffee, I have to have A LOT of flavored creamer. A couple of my all time favorite flavors are Pumpkin Spice, which is absolutely delicious and French Vanilla which as most of you know I love anything vanilla. I also have started drinking the iced mochas and iced coffees. My favorite coffee drink comes from McDonalds of all places, their Iced Mocha is absolutely divine. I am an occasional coffee drinker, it is not something that I drink everyday, just once in a while. My hubby has to have his coffee everyday, he drinks almost a pot first thing in the morning to get his day started off right. I came across a truly wonderful company lately that offers some delicious and healthy organic coffees. Grounds For Change is a certified organic coffee roaster specializing in 100% Fair Trade Coffee. Not only do they have a wonderful selection of coffees, but they also offer chocolate and teas as well. They were so generous to send me a 3 pack of different flavors to review. Here is what I got:
*Peru "Cafe Femenino"-A medium bodied coffee with a fine acidity, sweet aroma, and a hint of baker's chocolate that are accentuated by a slow dark roast. My hubby and I loved this coffee because for him it was the perfect dark roast coffee and for me even though it was a considered a regular coffee, I loved that hint of chocolate. It gave it just enough sweet flavor and that is really all I look for in a tasty coffee. Delicious and perfect for a dessert coffee partnered with a nice piece of cake or even just by itself. Out of Peru, comes a story of strength and this coffee has evolved that is changing the role of women in rural coffee communities. Female coffee growers have become better educated, organized and for the first time are producing women's coffees as a special commodity. That's why this coffee is special:it was grown by women and the end result is something to savor.
*Agate Pass Blend- This coffee is a full-bodied combination of South American and Pacific coffees that are roasted to a medium dark, highly aromatic level. This blend has a smooth, nutty flavor with caramel, almond and subtle chocolate notes. This coffee is also named in honor of a narrow passage in the Puget Sound near Grounds For Change's roastery. This coffee was delicious as well. Hubby not being much of a flavored coffee drinker really enjoyed this coffee because it was not an overpowering of caramel or chocolate. He liked the subtle almond flavor and the medium dark roast the best. I admit, I did use a little French Vanilla creamer with this one but when all of the flavors got together it was like magic all in one cup. This was a treat to the taste buds and was the first time in a while where I drank more than one cup of coffee at a time. Truly a delightful cup of coffee.
*Bolivia "Los Yungas"- This coffee is smooth and balanced with a fragrant aroma and is a high-grown Bolivian coffee that possesses a rich, full body. When it is roasted to a medium level, it has a sweet flavor with notes of almond and hazelnut. This was by far hubby's favorite coffee of the three. He is a pretty big hazelnut fan and what's not to love about that? It is a truly delicious flavor nonetheless. I really enjoyed this coffee as well and adding a little extra Hazelnut creamer made it taste even better.
The best thing about these coffees from Grounds For Change is that they roasted to order and shipped fresh daily. When we received the coffees, we could definitely tell this as we opened each bag. For me there is nothing better than opening a bag or can of coffee, that is such a wonderful aroma.
