Cook In The Kitchen Review and Giveaway

I love to bake tasty treats for my family once in a while.  Sometimes I will branch out like in a couple of weeks and bake cookies for the church function.  There are times that even though I am craving something sweet, I don't have the time to put into making cookies, cakes or breads by scratch.  Some of the store bought mixes work for the most part, but there are some that I have bought that just don't have that homemade or fresh baked taste.  I also really love to make pancakes and waffles for either a Sunday morning breakfast or a weeknight dinner.  Again, some of the store bought mixes leave little to be desired and taste more like mix than fresh made from scratch pancakes or waffles.  Same thing for biscuits.  I absolutely love biscuits, rolls and fresh baked bread, but it takes a lot of work.  The dry mixes work OK, the refrigerated dough works about the best that I have used.  I am not a great cook by any means.  The best part of cooking for me is reading the back of a box of Hamburger Helper or opening up a frozen pizza to throw in the oven.  I found a great site that has a wide variety of products to help a novice like me in the kitchen.  It's called Cook In The Kitchen and they have a selection of products from Pancake and Waffle Mixes to Scones and Muffin Mixes to Gourmet Soup Mixes.  The best part about these mixes is that they are all natural, no artificial ingredients or added preservatives. I was lucky to be sent the following two mixes for review:

*Maple Whole Wheat Pancake and Waffle Mix- I love whole wheat and multi grain products.  We eat a lot of whole wheat breads and pastas and when I saw this mix, I got really excited to be able to try it.  We love pancakes around our house with maple syrup so combining that flavor with whole wheat was sure to make a great stack of pancakes for my family and myself.  This mix was very easy to make, just add water and stir to make a light, flavorful, absolutely delicious pancake.  Of course, we added more maple syrup to the top, but just tasting these pancakes by themselves was a great flavor experience.  Little one sure did love them, but she loves anything that has to do with bread and things she can pick up on her own with her fingers.  The oldest really enjoyed them as well and must have ate about 3 herself.  I know I loved them for sure and hubby really did too.  I was really impressed to how much this package made, it says about 10 serving per 16 oz package and I got about 20 small size pancakes out of it.  I can't wait to try some of the other great flavors of pancake and waffle mixes that Cook In The Kitchen has like Wild Cranberry, True Blueberry, Buttermilk and Apple Spice.  Great price as well at $5.95, you can get them all!

*Buttermilk Country Biscuits- I absolutely love biscuits, they are so versatile and you can do so many things with them.  I made these biscuits to go along with a chicken dinner that I cooked.  I love mixes that are so simple to make and this was definitely easy.  Add water and mix for fresh, homemade tasting biscuits.  Like I said previous, the great difference between this biscuit mix and others is that this Buttermilk Country Biscuit Mix from Cook In the Kitchen is all natural and you can definitely taste that after they are baked.  Fresh, flaky, and absolutely delicious warm out of the oven.  Little one had two, I don't think she could shove them in her mouth fast enough.  The oldest kept telling me "Mom, make sure to give these a good review, they are really good!"  I can't wait to order more of these in the future and make some Strawberry Shortcake, which I haven't had in years.  These biscuits would make a perfect compliment to that are so many other options.  Reasonably priced at $5.95 for a 16 oz package.
