Wubbzy Goes To School Review and Giveaway

My kids both love to watch TV and sometimes I think they watch too much of it.  I like to limit how much time they watch and especially what they watch.  I have to admit it though, there is a lot of great shows out there for children nowadays, cartoons and shows that are really educational and teach them a lot.  My little one is at that perfect age now where she is picking up on a lot of new words and learning so much about everything around her.  I love for her to watch television shows that are going to help her in that process and steer her in the right direction.  She loves shows like Sesame Street, Handy Manny, and The Wiggles, these are great shows with some good lessons and good meanings behind them.  Another show that she loves to watch all of the time is Wow! Wow! Wubbzy, the great and interesting show on Nick Jr.  This show always has great lessons to teach, from sharing with others to learning manners and everything in between.

Hard to believe that summer is almost over, part of me is relieved to get the oldest back to school and get her learning and playing soccer again.  So just in time with all of the business of school shopping and preparation, I had the chance to review the latest in the Wow!Wow! Wubbzy DVD collection: Wubbzy Goes To School.

This fun and absolutely cute adventure follows our friend Wubbzy along with his best pals Widget, Walden and Daizy as they help preschoolers learn.  This new collection of engaging episodes will ease children's anxieties about heading off to school and making new friends while they embark on wonderfully wacky adventures the Wubbzy way!
Wubbzy Goes To School puts the "cool" in school with six charming episodes that will have everyone ready to hit the books.  In "Who Needs School?", Wubbzy is nervous heading off to school for the very first time and he decides he can learn all he needs to learn on his own.  When things don't work out as expected and Wubbzy has no one to play with, he realizes that maybe school isn't so bad after all.  In another episode "New Kid On the Block" Wubbzy learns that meeting and accepting new friends can be a big! big! job.  When Murphy, a larger than life new student joins the class, Wubbzy finds that good friends come in all shapes and sizes.
Additional episodes include: "Gotta Dance", "Wubbzy the Star", "You Gotta Have Art" and "Magic Tricks" starring Wuzzleburg's own Moo! Moo! the Magician.  Fans will be "wowed" with cool bonus features such as the "Meet Wubbzy's Schoolmates" photo gallery, coloring and activity sheets and more.

My take on this DVD is that it truly is fun and educational to watch.  My oldest is the only one of the two girls that is in school and even though she is past the preschool stage obviously, I had her watch this DVD with her sister.  The oldest had some issues at school last year, even though she won't completely admit it or tell us the whole story about it.  Her grades really slipped and she came home and told us she was being picked on a lot.  I know how she feels as I was always picked on at school too and went through a similar faze.  The oldest also did not want to go to school many days and would fight with me because she didn't want to.  Even as the new school year is starting, she has constantly said all summer that she does not want to go back so I figured watching this DVD especially the "Who Needs School?" episode might make her see just how important going to school really is.  Even the "New Kid on the Block" episode was a very educational one because she has been in Murphy's shoes at one point.  My oldest is a taller than usual kid for her age and she says that some of the kids at school are picking on her because she is only 7 and not 8 like most of her classmates as well as being so tall.  These two episodes of Wubbzy teach an important lesson that it's OK to be different and that school is a great place to go.  If you didn't have school, you wouldn't make friends and you wouldn't learn as much as you think you would.  That's why I love Wubbzy because there are so many wonderful and useful lessons to be told.
