Peaceable Kingdom Press Review and Giveaway

My oldest is a very creative little girl.  She loves to draw and has been getting so much better at it lately.  Whether you stick a pencil, pen, crayon, marker, or paint brush in her hand, she may make a mess with it like most kids do, but she does usually always create a masterpiece.  She loves it when I buy her craft kits too, like friendship bracelets or paint by number sets.  We can't walk into the store without going over to the toys section and heading over to the arts and crafts to see what new ones they have out.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, little one loves books.  We have gotten her a lot of the board books, you know the ones that are easy for little hands and are thicker so they are harder to rip.  Yes, even at 23 months, she loves to still put them in her mouth, but at least now there are times when she does actually sit down to look at them.  I love to sit down with her because she is at that wonderful age where she is learning new words almost on a daily basis, and we look at a book together.  The board books are perfect because most of the ones we have contain one or two words on a page and I can pretty much get her to say them, even if it only sounds like it.
I found a great online store that I can find stuff for both of the girls; a ton of board books for little one and fun activity books, paper dolls, and stickers for the oldest.  The place is Peaceable Kingdom Press and they have a wide selection of products for your kids that will keep them entertained, their imaginations run wild, and to be able to be creative all at the same time.  I was sent two great products from the Peaceable Kingdom line: a set of So Many Animals Board Books for the little one and a set of Paper Dolls:Mermaids in a Box for the oldest.  Let's start with the board books: I love them!  They are so cute and illustrated with fun pictures of all sorts of animals from dogs to cats and everything in between.  Little one clung onto them as soon as I gave them to her and carries them around with her everywhere.  Each book highlights a group of animals and explores a different learning topic in a minimal language.  Zoo is about using adjectives to describe the animals, Farm is all about sound and Pets is about colors.  I love board books in general but these books are great because they are small enough for little ones hands and they are extra chunky.  She really loves these books and often sits on the floor to look at them several times during the day.  I guess I will have to get the other two sets:Numbers, Colors and Shapes and One Great Day! for her in the future.

The oldest has never really been into paper dolls even though I have offered to buy her several sets of them.  When she received her Mermaids in a Box Paper Dolls set, she was pretty excited though.  These aren't the typical paper dolls that I remember growing up with, trust me I played with them A LOT when I was a kid. The paper dolls are beautifully colored and illustrated and have stickers that are similar to Colorforms that I know we all used to play with when we were younger.  This paper doll set comes in it's own box and it is also a play set as well.  You can dress up the mermaids for an underwater magical party or a tea party, the possibilities are endless and allows for hours of imaginative play.  My oldest really enjoyed this Mermaids in a Box Paper Dolls set and loved playing with her friends too.  This set contains a ton of stickers, FOUR paper dolls, castle topper, removable waterfall, and many lift the flap surprises.  Peaceable Kingdom Press also has several more paper doll sets that your kids will absolutely love.  The best part that I like the most, easy clean up.  Everything fits right back into the box for easy storage.  My oldest loves to take these out and play with them almost everyday and her little sister likes to help too!

Peaceable Kingdom Press was started in 1983 by Olivia and Thatcher Hurd.  A small tidbit is that Thatcher is the son of a renowned children's book artist by the name of Clement Hurd.  Clement made a painting based on the art from his book Goodnight Moon and he asked the couple if they would like to sell it as a poster.  They printed 1,000 posters, sold them to stores in Berkley, CA and the next thing you know a company was born!
Over the years they have added hundreds of new products that feature art from renowned children's book illustrators.  Peaceable Kingdom Press works with more than 100 artists and their product offerings include birthday cards, games, stickers, paper dolls, diaries and valentines.  All of their products have one thing in common-they nourish children's minds, eyes, hearts and funny bones!  The thing that matters most is that Peaceable Kingdom Press is simple;make good, do good, and be good.  They maintain a personal integrity in all of their relationships, remain dedicated to producing original high-quality products that are manufactured in socially responsible facilities, use recycled and FSC certified paper in 100% of their cards and envelopes, and support their local community by volunteering in schools and our larger world by donating to charitable organizations that support the lives of children.
