We love to drink a lot of tea around our house, hubby is an avid tea drinker. There is really nothing better on a hot summer day that a nice, fresh glass of cold iced tea or on a cold winter day, a fresh hot brewed cup of tea to make you feel better. We have had the pleasure of trying a lot of different brands of tea over the years, each brand having their own special variety of flavors and blends. Some of them I have really liked, some I would occasionally drink and others that I may not ever drink again. It is hard to believe how popular tea is starting to get and how it has branched out as much as it has. It seems that there is always a commercial on TV for certain types of tea or an eye-catching ad in a magazine that advertises tea and all of it's great flavors. We recently had the opportunity to try a great selection of teas from Salada. I had heard of Salada before doing my review and had seen it in my local stores, but never picked any of it up. Hubby usually sticks to one kind of tea that he drinks everyday in the unsweetened version and makes up a big pitcher every night. He takes a big bottle with him to work everyday as well. There are times especially in the evenings when he is trying to settle in for the night that he will fix himself a cup or two of hot tea to try and unwind from a long, hard working day. My oldest loves drinking hot tea and cold tea too, whereas I am an occasional tea drinker and like a cup once in a while at night or maybe in the afternoon with some crackers for a light snack. Salada has a wonderful variety of tea that is sure to please even the occasional tea drinker like me. They sent me the following flavors for my review:
*Naturally Decaffeinated Green Tea-Citrus Flavor- This tea is complimented with natural citrus flavor and then infused with vitamins to create a fresh, all natural blend. Each serving of this Salada Green Tea Original Antioxidant provides 50% or your recommended daily intake of Vitamin C, 30% of Vitamin E and A and contains 87mg of Siberian Ginseng. All of the Salada Green Teas are decaffeinated using only natural spring water and effervescence to preserve a great taste and healthy antioxidants. This tea had a wonderful scent not even opening the box, but once the box was open, it had an even better aroma. I love green teas so I was excited to try this and it definitely did not disappoint. It had a great citrus flavor, you could get a hint of orange and I love that you can get so many benefits from drinking this tea. I like drinking a beverage that not only tastes good but is good for you and you get this and more from drinking this Salada tea.
*Soothing Mint Green Tea-This green tea is a comforting blend of traditional green tea and natural mint flavor from spearmint leaves. Spearmint leaves have been used to calm upset stomachs and relieve anxiety. This tea is all-natural and has hand picked quality and smooth flavor that will soothe the body and put you at ease. After a long day, this is the blend to revitalize your healthy lifestyle. I love mint tea, it is my absolute favorite. My oldest loves mint tea, of course she loves anything that has to do with mint. This tea from Salada has a really smooth flavor and if you aren't feeling the greatest, this will definitely help make you feel better. My oldest was a little under the weather with a cold and I fixed her a cup of this tea. She kept telling me how good it tasted and how it made her feel warm all over when she was drinking it. This is one of the best mint teas that I have had the pleasure of drinking.
*Spiced Chai-Chai means "tea" in Hindi and most commonly refers to a spiced hot beverage. A long time tradition in India, Chai spice blends vary from region to region and even from household to household. Salada has their own unique all natural blend that compliments that classic Indian tradition, containing clove, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. This medley of spices added to their smooth and delicate Green Tea provides you a healthy way to put a little spice in your life. I absolutely LOVED this tea, it was definitely my favorite. I love the combination of spices, cinnamon is my favorite spice and combined with the nutmeg it reminded me of a hot apple pie because these are the spices that are generally used. My hubby really enjoyed this tea as well and so did the oldest. It was a smooth tea and I actually had TWO cups, which is something I don't normally do. The flavors of this tea are amazing. I have never tried Chai tea before trying this tea from Salada, but I have a feeling that now I am hooked!
*Pomegranate Berry-This is a new blend from Salada and is an antioxidant rich blend of pomegranate, blueberry, and acai. These three "superfruits" blended with the traditional Green Tea provide the ideal infusion to help create a stronger you. The sweet yet slightly tangy flavor of pomegranate blends perfectly with the luscious flavor of blueberries. Pomegranate is so popular nowadays and where I am not really crazy about the flavor itself, I really do like this tea. I do like blueberries and this just the right blend of the pomegranate flavor with the blueberry flavor for me. I have tried various pomegranate products, really not liking what I have come across. I am quite particular about the foods and drinks that I consume. This tea was really flavorful and the oldest really loved it, she really loves anything that has to do with fruit, so I guess I can't complain about that. This is a tea that I would love to drink on occasion, the oldest wants to drink it all of the time and has asked me to make a pitcher of it so she can have it as an iced tea.
Salada first introduced it's tea bags in 1930 to provide an easy way to brew a single cup of tea. Originally the bags were made of fabric similar to gauze and were sewn shut. For convenient removal of the tea bag one end of the string was attached to the bag and the other to a paper tag, which remained outside the cup and could be grasped easily to avoid the hot, steeping tea. To add an additional twist, Salada printed a few words of wisdom or wit to each tea bag beginning in the early 1960's. These tidbits were intended to provoke a smile or a thought as the tea drinker paused with a cup of Salada tea. Through the years, the Salada tag lines have become a memorable part of Salada Tea.
In 1990, almost a century after Peter Larkin founded his tea company, Salada introduced Salada Naturally Decaffeinated Tea, that was a blend of carefully selected high quality teas. These teas are decaffeinated using a 100% natural process to preserve their fine qualities and produce a flavor that is uniquely Salada. Salada has been marketing both black and green tea in the United States for more than 100 years and their expertise in green tea has made them a leader in the green tea marketplace. In 1997, they introduced the Salada Green Tea Flavors and their teas now come in flow-through tea bags to fully release the great taste and flavor faster than ever before. With four sides instead of two, these bags allow the hot water to quickly find its way to the tea leaves so the brewing time is reduced.
