McNeill Designs For Brighter Minds Games Review and Giveaway

My family and I love to play board games, card games, dice games and especially video games lately together. With us, it's all about family time and having fun. Some of our favorite games include UNO, Yahtzee, Candy Land and Monopoly. Recently we were sent a couple of new games to try out and let me tell you we have had an absolute blast with them. The company is called McNeill Designs for Brighter Minds and they specialize in fun, innovative games that get your brain thinking while enjoying yourself at the same time. I was sent two of their most popular games that they carry-You've Been Sentenced and Twisted Fish. Growing up, I played Go Fish all of the time and even now especially as a mom, I play it with the oldest daughter every once on a while. Yes, I always get beat, but it's the time we spend together that matters, sometimes we just don't seem to get enough of that.

Twisted Fish- The name of the game says it all-this is a twisted version of the classic Go Fish, complete with a colorful and at some points comical deck of cards. My oldest was really excited to give this game a try, so we waited until the weekend and had a family game night to test this out. Here is the description of the game according to the site:
The old game of Go Fish just got a very challenging twist. It isn't child's play anymore! Twisted Fish takes a traditional standby and casts it into the 21st century.
13 unique fish characters in five different colors, plus 8 unique "Zingers" that allow you to break the rules, make Twisted Fish a unique game experience. The real challenge takes place when asking for the fish cards you are collecting-now you have to be specific about the type of fish and color that you are seeking. Twisted Fish challenges you to remember every question asked at the table. It is challenging and fun right down to the very last card.
For ages 8 and up, 30-40 minutes, 3-6 players

This was definitely a fun and exciting game to play. The oldest who is 7 years old got the hang of it right away and of course ended up beating her dad and I easily. It is a challenging game indeed and you have to have a good memory, but even if you don't, it's a great game to play. The illustrations on the cards are enough to keep you laughing, but of course we laughed throughout the whole game. I also love that you can go to the site and Meet the Fish, learn the rules and even check out a video. I can't wait to get my extended family over to play this game with us.

The other game that we received is a very popular one for McNeill Designs for Brighter Minds-You've Been Sentenced. This one was a little harder for the oldest to play, but as smart as she is, it didn't take her long to pick up on it after we explained it to her a few times. Here is the description according to the site:
The latest in the evolution of game, You've Been Sentenced is the first game in history to really turn making sentences into a funny, playable and challenging game. Using a unique word deck of pentagon shaped cards containing conjunctions of funny words, famous names, throughout history, familiar places and wild cards, players have to make grammatically correct and justifiable sentences. The real fun begins when the players have to read their sentences out loud and explain what they mean to the rest of the players. They form the jury and vote thumbs up or down on whether the sentence and justification stand and the points are scored. 540 cards with over 2,500 words insure billions of possible sentences so the game is never repetitive and has unlimited replay value.
Multiple other methods of play are available on the McNeill Designs For Brighter Minds website that turn You've Been Sentenced into not just a game but a full game system. They even have a lesson plan to turn the game into a classroom teaching tool. This game makes learning grammar and sentence construction fun and easy.
For ages 8 and up, 30-40 minutes to play, 3-10 players with extensive rule variations

This game truly is a wonderful teaching tool for my oldest. Yes we did actually play the game, but she has been learning to do sentences in school and this IS definitely the perfect teaching tool to do just that. The generous folks at McNeill also sent each one of their add on decks for You've Been Sentenced including: Gourmet Cuisine, Pop Culture, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, Sports Highlights, and the Reader's Digest National Word Power Challenge Decks. This makes the possibilities endless, the fun continuing and the learning continuous. I am not only impressed by the fun that we have playing this game, but at how my oldest is learning new words, sentences and sentence construction. Great props to McNeill Designs for Brighter Minds on this game, they really have a great thing going.

McNeill Designs For Brighter Minds was founded in 2004, and they have never considered themselves an ordinary game development company. The You've Been Sentenced games sets the tone for all future endeavors and ideas. This game succeeds where others have failed. McNeill uses it's success to support charitable causes such as Success Won't Wait, a non-profit organization that helps fight illiteracy through the distribution of books.
