Bella Biscotti Review and Giveaway

I love trying new things, whether it be foods, clothes or music, I am the type that doesn't like the same things over and over again. I was definitely able to try something new when I ran across a little Etsy shop by the name of Bella Biscotti. I had never tried biscotti before, sure I had heard of it, but never knew what it was until now. I am now a new biscotti lover, it is so delicious! I was sent a nice little variety pack of some of the different flavors that Bella Biscotti has to offer. Valerie is the owner and from what I've read about in the background of her story, she puts a lot of effort and most of all love into each biscotti and other creations that she bakes. I had the chance to try some of her Almond Biscotti, which is absolutely delicious! I love almonds anyway and this had a lot of them in there, plus a hint of vanilla flavor. It left me definitely wanting more. I also tried the Chocolate Butterscotch Biscotti, which was very flavorful with lots of butterscotch chips. The combination of the chocolate and butterscotch was a match made in heaven. YUM! Valerie also sent me a couple of her Italian Knot Cookies, which were really light and had just the faint flavor of lemon and topped with a white icing and colored sprinkles. I was also sent some Pecan Date Biscotti, which I haven't even gotten into yet. Last night though, my daughter and I had the most delicious cookie I have tasted in quite a long time. It was a Classic Ginger Snap Cookie and it reminded me a lot of my grandmother, who used to sit up at the kitchen table when I lived with her and ate ginger snaps out of the bag and drank hot tea almost on a nightly basis. This Ginger Snap Cookie reminded me a little of those ginger snaps only better and fresher. My oldest daughter, who never had a ginger snap cookie before, kept saying how much she liked them, I think after every bite. If you truly want experience a taste of home, give Bella Biscotti a try. She really has something great going here!

Bella Biscotti's background has a lot to do with family and you can tell from the first bite of Valerie's cookies and biscotti. It tastes like a family recipe from generations. Her family loved to be in the kitchen as well as watch cooking shows on Sunday afternoons. This is how Valerie's love of the kitchen was born. She chose to study Nutrition and Dietetics in college but found that she loved the food based classes far more than the clinical classes. She ended up switching and went to culinary school where she majored in Professional Baking and Pastry Arts. During school, she spent time waitressing and managing and stuck with that career path out of convenience for the family's schedule. Valerie wasn't happy because she had no creative outlet. Her husband encouraged her to start a home-based business. After much struggling and obstacles, they managed to turn their garage into a commercial bakery using material leftover from her husband's contractor jobsites, discounted equipment from restaurant friends and lots of creativity. Bella Biscotti has been a labor of love and for Valerie, well worth the effort. "You have to love what you do and success will follow", that's her philosophy and I definitely agree.
