Seventh Generation Million Baby Crawl AND a GIVEAWAY!

I was absolutely excited to be contacted by Meghan from Seventh Generation to write about the Million Baby Crawl. They have a cause that they strongly believe in and so do I. The Million Baby Crawl is definitely a labor of love that Seventh Generation wants and needs your help in. They want to help make our nation's outdated chemical law tougher in order to make the world safer for our children. They want to do this by educating and empowering parents to raise their voices for stronger standards on toxic chemicals.

They have a wonderful program going on and here's how you can help and participate to get your voice heard. Head over to the Million Baby Crawl site: http://www.seventhgeneration.com/million-baby-crawl/
*Create your little crawler (I did!) and write your own personalized message that represents why you want chemical reform.
You have the voice to help change this, now let it be heard!

We all know the Seventh Generation makes wonderful all natural, non chemical cleaners and other products, but somewhere, somehow there are other chemicals around our home. If you have little ones, like I do, this could be potentially dangerous. That's why Seventh Generation is so passionate about this cause. Mounting scientific evidence shows that overexposure to chemicals around the home can cause serious and adverse impacts on human health, especially for our children.
The federal law that should protect us from this just doesn't work. Since 1976, the US Environmental Protection Agency has required safety testing on only 200 of the more than 80,000 chemicals on the market. As far as I can see and read, someone is dropping the ball on this big time. That's why the Million Baby Crawl is SOO important. This law needs to be changed so that ALL of these chemicals are tested, not just a handful. You are an integral part as to how this can happen. By creating your little crawler, you are not only saying that you care, but you are showing the people in Washington that you want action taken NOW!

Here are a few of the facts:
*Under the current law, the EPA does not have the authority to demand the information it needs to evaluate a chemicals risk and neither manufactures nor the EPA are required to prove a chemical's safety as a condition of use.
*1.25 million of kids younger than six are unintentionally poisoned in the home each year by things like cosmetics or personal care products, cleaning substances, pain relievers, and cough and cold medicines according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers.
*Studies show that nearly 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants have been found in the umbilical cord blood of newborns according to the Environmental Working Group.

The Million Baby Crawl will help present the Kids Safety Act to Washington by collecting signatures from Americans who support the toxic chemical reform. If passed the Kids Safe Chemical Act will require chemical manufacturers to conduct safety testing before a chemical is used in products.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
1.) To help turn this bill into a new law, Seventh Generation has partnered with Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families a diverse nationwide coalition of environmental groups, health professionals and others working to pass smart federal policies that protect us from toxic chemicals.
2.) Join the Million Baby Crawl
3.) Learn More about the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families and email Congress and let them k

WoW! I went to the site and looked around and I was shocked to see the following taken from the website: "Since 1976, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has required safety testing on only 200 of the more than 80,000 chemicals on the market." Now I don't feel safe at all!

I learned that Seventh Generation diapers are just like most disposable diaper designs in the marketplace, Seventh Generation diapers are not biodegradable, nor can they be composted. Many of the materials used are synthetic, and do not biodegrade. seehorce(at)yahoo(dot)com
