JUARA Skincare Review and Giveaway

As you all know, I love finding new and innovative skin care, bath and body and makeup products.  As a blogger, I have been extremely fortunate enough to try new products that I would otherwise not have known about.  I have been able to find and review for companies that are small and just starting up, to companies that are growing and thriving.  I have found companies that have natural and organic products to bath and beauty products that are made from rich botanicals and feature a wide variety of moisturizers, body washes and lotions as is the case with the latest company that I am reviewing for.  JUARA Skincare provides it's consumers with a unique fusion of natural Indonesian skincare treatments of ancient royalty and modern science.  I was excited to try some of the great products that JUARA had to offer because these products were definitely going to be different than any of the other beauty products that I have been able to try in the past.  JUARA Skincare uses pure and powerful active botanicals to create products that are safe and gentle to your skin while focusing on your skin wellness and making it feel luxurious, sensual and elegant.  The nice people over at JUARA sent me a little variety of some of their most popular products as well as a little bottle of a new product that they have just come out with: Candlenut Shower Gel.  Here is what I received and my personal opinions on each product.

*Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel-This gently foaming and hydrating shower gel contains nourishing candlenut oil to deeply moisturize, leaving skin velvety smooth and refreshed.  It thoroughly cleanses skin without overdrying, leaving it healthy and soft.  Candlenut oil is known for its hydrating power and signature velvet feel.  The fragrance is infused with the scent of lush greens, delicate freesia, white blooming jasmine, bergamot, and rose with just a slight hint of coconut to really delight the nose and tickle the senses.  Trust me, this body was does exactly what it describes.  I used it in the shower for three days in a row as I sometimes chance body washes to use different ones from day to day.  I sometimes find it hard to find a body wash to do exactly what I want it to.  Some I use dry out my skin, some the fragrance doesn't last, I just can never seem to find the balance.  This JUARA Skincare Candlenut Shower Gel is perfect because it combines softness and a delicately soft fragrance and is just a pleasure to use in the shower.  I can tell that this is going to be a very popular product in the JUARA Skincare line.
*Candlenut Body Polish- This is an elegant yet creamy body polish with the classic scent of the Candlenut Shower Gel.  It refines and softens your skin in just one single use, but that doesn't mean to stop using it!  Natural shell grains gently lift off dead surface cells and dulling debris to reveal more radiant skin, priming it for the better absorption of the softening and hydrating power of the candlenut oil.  This Body Polish leaves a comfortable veil of moisture on the skin and can even be used outside the shower as a lotion so to speak on your dry skin to gently exfoliate.  I have never tried a body polish before, yes I have used a number of body scrubs and body butters, but this Candlenut Body Polish was different than those.  This was a creamy formula and the little "beads" that you see in it really do work wonders for the skin.  This smelled fantastic as well and made my skin feel the softest and smoothest that it has in quite a while.  I would HIGHLY recommend the JUARA product to anyone who has dry skin or even if you don't.  This product is magnificent.
*Sweet Black Tea & Rice Facial Moisturizer-This is JUARA Skincare's best seller and after using it, I can see why.  This hydrating moisturizer combines with a patented, clinically proven form of fermented sweet black tea (also known as Kombucha which is a drink that Hollywood has been buzzing about and can also be found at health food stores!) with nourishing rice bran oil.  I know what your thinking, fermented?  Don't worry, this facial cleanser doesn't smell bad at all and is surprising great for your skin.  The fermented sweet black tea is proven to significantly soften the skin and enhance skin radiance.  The rice bran oil is high in fatty acids as well as natural Vitamin E.  Regular use reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  In this day and age, I am definitely realizing that I am not getting any younger and no offense to my adorable little girls, but the stresses of being mommy doesn't make my skin feel any younger either.  I have noticed those little lines underneath my eyes and have tried a lot of facial moisturizers, cleansers and toners to try to reverse the signs of aging.  This Sweet Black Tea & Rice Moisturizer is really a joy to use as it makes my face feel really soft all day, not just part of the day like some other cleansers that I have used.  It has a soft refreshing scent and is really light, definitely not heavy at all.  I really like this cleanser and have recommended it to a couple of my other mommy friends.
*Rice Facial Cleanser- This softening rinse-free cleanser combines gentle yet effective cleansing agents, which remove makeup and skin dulling debris with the conditioning benefits of rice starch.  Known for it's soothing and softening properties, rice starch helps prevent moisture loss by enhancing the skin's protective barrier.  This cleanser is also rich in amino acids and makes your skin feel incredibly soft.  I really enjoyed using this Rice Facial Cleanser.  It is a lot of fun to use new and unique products that I would never have thought about using before.  This cleanser made my face feel soft and smooth and really worked like a charm.

JUARA was started by four creative and culturally diverse women with a follow-your-dream mentality.  They shared a vision to build a brand that combined their Western upbringing with their Asian ancestry and turned it into a passion for results-driven skincare.  Together they founded JUARA, an east-meets-west Indonesian line of treatments reminiscent of the ancient spa experience, relevant to the savvy, conscientious person of today.  JUARA combines time honored recipes for skin health and well being with the best modern technology and innovation to deliver efficacious and elegant treatments of the highest quality.

We love your participation and want to show it! In addition to gaining followers, each week we'll select three blogs at random and will feature links and a write-up for those blogs in the content of next week's Friendly Friday post. There are so many seriously wonderful blogs out there, and this will be a great way to highlight some of those each week. Say hello to the lucky chosen 3 for this week (and feel free to stop by and give them a little extra love)...

Jen at Piney Flats Style likes to write about everything she loves and doesn't love, her home (which is really charming, by the way), decorating on a budget and "plain old casual country living." She has a lot of great photos in every post. Jen's projects have included her awesome Office Nook and Wraparound Porch and so much more. It would be easy to spend a long time looking at all of her interesting projects and photos of her house.

At They Call Me Old Fashioned, Diana writes about their two children whom they consider their greatest blessing. Recipes are also on her site with mouth-watering photos, plus her sewing category features the cutest felt play food for kids which she sells at a farmer's market (what about the internet?). She tells about using fitted cloth diapers and reusable cotton cloth wipes which she says work better than commercial ones and can be washed with the diapers. Sounds like a great idea!

Heather & Amy at All Ruby Cakes, where it's "all about the rubys and the cakes," are not only sisters but best friends. And they love to shop! They have a lot of great giveaways and freebies on their site as well as a lot of info about the latest fashion, products, gadgets, movies, books and other things. The Mineral Makeup sounds great! If anyone is interested in having Heather and Amy do a product review or have them host a giveaway, just contact them. They would love to do it!

Now that you know about these 3 wonderful blogs, it's time for you to join in! Add your link below and we'll see you back here every Friday! And don't forget, you can grab the code to share the link list on your blog, too.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Smiley Cookie Review and Giveaway

Around my house, everyone loves cookies.  Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Sugar, we love them all.  I make cookies quite often, whether it be just for the fun of it or for some church function, school function, or benefit, I have fun baking cookies.  The oldest and I really enjoy making cookies together especially around Christmas time.  I remember the good old days of grandma cookies tons of cookies in her little kitchen, making several different kinds and each and every batch made my hand.  I loved living with her, she was always baking up something delicious.  My father in law used to make my favorite cookies all of the time: Butterscotch Chip cookies.  I don't know what he did to them, but they were always delicious and he would make special batches of them just for me.  He baked a lot of cookies for the holidays and after he passed away, my hubby and I took over for a couple of years and made all of the cookies that he used to bake.  We never realized just how much work he actually took into baking all of those cookies until we did it ourselves.  My girls really love the cute and colorful cookies, you know the ones with all of the frosting and different colored sprinkles.  I found some really great cookies that my girls would absolutely love from Smiley Cookie.  Smiley Cookie has a great variety of cookies that not only have the obviously smiley faces, but they have Bunny cookies for Easter, flower cookies for Mother's Day, shamrock cookies for St. Patrick's Day and many more varieties to put an obvious smile on your kids and especially your faces.  I was sent a dozen of the Original Smiley Cookies in a variety of different colored frosting and cute little smiling faces.  My oldest couldn't wait to get her hands on one of these cookies, but I actually beat her to it.  I barely got them out of the box before little one and I got into them.  Here is a picture of her eating her Smiley Face Cookie:

She loved it and after she finished asked for "more".  Of course, as a mom I try to limit her sugar intake especially at such a young age.  I told her she could have some more later, which she did when he dad came home and got into them too.  These cookies sugar cookies and are delicious and have a great flavor without being overly sweet like some cookies that I have eaten.  The frosting is not overdone either and had a little bit of a crunch.  If you are looking for a great sweet treat that your kids are sure to love, you should order up a dozen or maybe two of these great Smiley Cookie.  These would also be a great gift and are very affordable to get for a child's birthday party of for a school party as well.  These cookies were tasty and definitely didn't last too long around here, that was for sure.  They are so fun to eat and even more fun to receive.  You will definitely put a smile on everyone's face by sending some of these yummy cookies to a loved one or friend.  Another great thing is these Smiley Cookies are not your average cookie size, these are BIG and one is definitely enough, well at least one at a time!
Smiley Cookies are THE purveyor of delicious and customizable cookies that were made famous in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  If you have a holiday, they have a cookie for it!  They can customize cookies for any event, whether you want to match your cookies to your wedding colors or to your favorite football team, Smiley Cookies should definitely be your cookie of choice.  Their cookies are hand iced and shipped fresh-absolutely no freezing.  You could definitely tell how fresh these cookies are when they arrive, but I also love that every single cookie arrived in one piece, no broken pieces or anything.  Customers all over the country send care packages to college students and family members everywhere.  Smiley Cookies even ships to APO addresses so that our troops can get a nice pick me up and a taste of home when they need it the most.  If you are sending these wonderful Smiley Cookies as a gift, they will include a personalized greeting from you as well.

Their site isn't just a store, Smiley Cookies reaches out to their customers through their Smiley Cookies blog, where they have some great information and fun cookie stories.  When you head on over to the Eat n' Park Shop to purchase your Smiley Cookies or any other variety of great gifts, you will have a fun time designing your own Smiley Cookies in a sweet variety of colors and at $9.99 a dozen, you are getting a great deal.  You can not only pick your cookie base color, but the color for the face as well.  This would be a fun project for the kids to do, that way they are getting exactly what they want and isn't it all about what the kids want nowadays?

Hillhouse Naturals Review and Giveaway

I love keeping my home looking and smelling great.  With two active little girls running around, sometimes keeping it clean is hard to accomplish.  I am always picking up toys and books that seem to come from their rooms and end up in the living room and kitchen and even at some points end up in the bathroom of all places.  I love to keep a clean home for my girls and find myself cleaning almost on a daily basis.  I am not a perfectionist by no means, I just feel that a clean and nice smelling home reflects on a person and I hate it when even my mother in law or sister in law come over to the house and it is not picked up and looking good.  I love to have candles, scented oils, potpourri and more throughout my house to make it smelling fresh and relaxing.  The same things can be said about my appearance.  I always like to make an impression with my choice of perfumes or lotions that makes people ask me what I am wearing.  There's nothing better than making a lasting impression on someone, especially my hubby.  I found a great place where you can not only find scents for your home but for you as well.  The place:Hillhouse Naturals and they have some really wonderful and unique collections that feature candles, lotions, and reed diffusers among other products.  I was lucky enough to receive the following products for review:

*Bloom Diffuser- Delicious as the fresh breath of spring, a delicate floral bouquet of water lily, lotus flower, and jasmine is underscored with the cool green notes of fresh bamboo and vetiver.  I have only used one reed diffuser throughout my home before.  I have looked at them in the stores and some of them are really expensive.  After using this particular diffuser in my home, I would be likely to pay the extra money for one of these.  Even upon taking this out of the box, you get the wonderful, sweet aroma like fresh picked flowers.  To me, it reminded me of my grandmother's lilac bushes that she always used to have out front of her house, you know the pretty purple ones that have such a wonderful aroma?  I have this diffuser in my living room on top of the stereo and everytime I walk past it, I get the delicious scent.  I usually flip the reeds everyday or every other day so that I get even more fragrance going on throughout my room.  The fragrance contains essential oils and the reeds release the fragrance into the air by allowing the highly concentrated perfumed liquid to seep up through the reeds and evaporate.  I really love having this diffuser in my home because it really makes it have a fresh, fragrant and clean feeling to it.
*Olive Leaf Diffuser- A classic beauty from the Mediterranean-ancient home of the olive tree renewed for the current nature loving trend.  This herbal blend combines fresh, crisp notes of lemon verbena, green olive leaves, pettigrain and cucumber with warm woody whiffs of patchouli and cedarwood.  I also love the scent of this diffuser, which I have in my bathroom.  It provides a unique scent and I definitely can smell the hints of lemon verbena and cucumber.  This is a really great diffuser to have around your home because of all of the combinations of scents that it has going on through it.  This is one that guests to your house will definitely be asking about.
*Birch Soy Candle-This candle has an invigorating, woodsy scent.  My hubby really enjoyed this candle, said it reminded him of going out camping in the woods.  This is a candle in the new Signature Collection from Hillhouse Naturals along with Fresh Cut Grass, which is always a favorite scent of mine, French Tulip, Mango, and Gardenia Tuberose.  We usually don't burn candles during the warmer weather and summer months, it's something we usually do during the cold winters and rainy fall days, but as soon as hubby heard the scent, he wanted to try it.  Not only is he a lover of candles like I am, he likes the "tough" and woodsy scents better than what vanilla and fruity scents.  This really is a nice scented candle, not too overpowering of a scent yet just enough to tell what it is.  This was definitely a really nice candle and long-lasting.
*Fresh Linen Body Creme- Clean and uplifting, there's nothing better than Fresh Linen to help you unwind at the end of the day or get you ready to start a new one.  This exceptionally soft and subtle fragrance inspires memories of home linens freshly washed, then dried in the cool spring breeze.  This is what this body creme truly smelled like.  My grandmother had one of those old washing machines that hooked up to the sink and she would wash her clothes.  Then she would take them outside to the two clotheslines that she had strung from tree to tree and hang them out to dry for the day.  That brought back so many memories when I used this lotion, it had a clean, fresh scent and made my skin feel really soft and smooth at the same time.  This is great lotion and quickly has become one of my favorites to use.  I will definitely be ordering more of this in the near future.
*Cashmere Body Creme- The ultimate in luxury.  The natural elements, color and fragrance are the perfect blend of classic and contemporary style for the bed and bath.  This body creme is simple yet luxurious to use with a soft, simple scent that is definitely not overpowering.  It makes your skin smooth and supple as well.  I really enjoyed using this lotion.

In 1986, Hillhouse Naturals Farms began growing herbs and everlasting flowers on their farm in Kentucky.  It was during the early years that they began to make a line of handcrafted gifts such as garlands, wreaths, and ornaments inspired by the garden.  In recent years they have expanded their line to produce and ever growing line of products such as potpourri, candles, sachets, bamboo diffuser reeds, body products, and drawer liners.  Hillhouse Naturals takes pride in the natural quality and individually of their products.  The rich fragrances and textures of their potpourris are substantial in a way that makes most other potpourri mixtures seem bland in comparison.  The variety of hearty textures is visually appealing as well as aromatic with a quality that would satisfy the most discriminating customer.  The philosophy is a simple one: Hillhouse Naturals only sells quality products made with care.
