Custom Choice Cereal Review and Giveaway
We eat A LOT of cereal around our house and we all seem to have our favorites. I love Raisin Bran and Grape Nuts, the oldest loves Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs and Apple Jacks and little one loves Cheerios of any flavor. Hubby will eat just about any kind of cereal hot or cold. There are sometimes when we will have a cereal dinner, maybe because it's too hot to cook or just for something different. Little ones eats cereal for her snacks, so we always have a different variety on hand and usually buy several boxes a week. It is a quick breakfast when I am on the go or getting the oldest ready for school, I just love the convenience of cereal. They have a great selection on the market these days as well and it seems that a lot of the cereal companies are making healthier options and improving some of the popular cereals by cutting down on some of the sugar that is added. This is good because as a mom I worry about all the sugar that I give my kids and try to cut down on it in numerous ways. We also love granola and cereal that has a mixture of fruits, grains and nuts. I have found a great place to make your own delicious cereal mix using only the finest and freshest ingredients as well as it being completely Gluten-Free. Custom Choice Cereal is a wonderful place to go and make your own customized cereal mix with just the right mix of whatever you like. Whether it be strawberries, apples, pears, and a delicious mix of seeds and nuts, you are in control. The process is easy:
1.) Choose your base
2.) Chose your ingredients (up to 11 ingredients)
3.) Name Your Mix
4.) Receive Your Cereal at home
5.) Indulge
Trust me, indulge is what we did. Now, I have never been on a gluten free diet and neither has any of my family members, but we have tried a variety of gluten free foods in the past and you would never really know that this cereal was missing the gluten. It is delicious, fresh and full of flavor. Here is what I added to my mix:
*Base-Cinnamon Granola
*Ingredients-Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Strawberries, Pecan Pieces, Cherries, Slivered Almonds, Organic Blueberries, and Banana Chips
*Mama's Mix
I absolutely loved this cereal mix. It had HUGE pieces of strawberries, which are my favorite fruit going all throughout and the fruit combined with the cinnamon granola was definitely a great and flavorful combination. I actually tried a separate piece of everything to base my review on. The fruit was juicy and had a fresh picked taste and the nuts were crunchy. The seeds were flavorful and not salty at all. This cereal mix is good with milk, but I love to snack on it while I'm sitting here at the computer doing my work, it's a delicious and healthy snack that really satisfies my hunger. There is a lot of different combinations to try and there is also a handy nutrition facts sheet that updates as you add and subtract ingredients. They also have a code on the bag of you mix that allows you to reorder your mix if you'd like (which I know I would love to in the future). There is over 1.8 billion combination possibilities over at Custom Choice Cereal, so you can NEVER get bored with the same old mix. I think it would be a blast to try something new all of the time! You don't have to be on a Gluten-Free diet to enjoy these cereals, but if you are Custom Choice Cereal makes it so easy to get the taste and mix that you want without losing all of the flavor. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to my friends and family.
Custom Choice Cereal enables you to create great tasting gluten-free cereal from a variety of high-quality ingredients and delivers each mix conveniently to your doorstep.
Custom Choice Cereal was founded in 2008 while Hajo, the owner and creator was on the phone with a gluten-intolerant friend. He learned first hand about limited choice, limited availability, and the often mediocre taste of gluten-free cereal. Having realized the challenge of finding a variety of tasty gluten-free cereal, he and a group of students came up with a plan to transform the cereal world. At Custom Choice Cereal, they make your taste their priority and understand the very specific needs and concerns of being on a gluten-free diet. They choose only the highest quality ingredients, focus exclusively on gluten-free items, testing all of their ingredients for gluten and potential cross contamination, and maintain a dedicated gluten-free facility. The goal of Custom Choice Cereal is also to raise awareness for celiac disease and gluten intolerance in order to reduce and ultimately eliminate the unnecessary suffering that results from a false or missing diagnosis. For those who live a gluten-free lifestyle, Custom Choice Cereal aims to introduce normalcy into the cereal bowl and to bring relief to diet anxiety.
Custom Choice Cereal is proud to be able to present a question and answer session with celiac and gluten-free expert Dr. Stephen Wagen, who is also known as The Gluten Free Doctor. This gives you the opportunity to ask any and all of your questions when it comes to Celiac Disease, Gluten-Free living and so much more. Here is the link:
This Q&A will be up for at least another week, so head on over and check it out. Please limit your questions to five per session, thanks! :)

Important Father's Day Campaign
We all have a special man in our life, whether it be a husband, a father, a grandfather, uncle, nephew or son, there is someone that we love and care about deeply and we want the best for them in life and especially in health. I lost my dad almost 20 years ago when I was 16 and miss him tremendously everyday. I would be completely lost without my hubby. This Father's Day, you can give the men you love the best gift of all--the gift of a healthy future. If you guys are like mine, they hate to go to the doctor. When they are sick or not feeling their best, they try to act strong and brush it off like it is nothing. Urge them to get to the doctor and get checked out so that they can be around for you and your family for many years to come.
Did you know that new research has found that men are 31% less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year? In fact, men report making fewer routine health care appointments compared with women (56.5% vs 73.8%).
The US Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Ad Council are launching a new movement of behalf of their national public service advertising campaign designed to encourage middle-aged men to learn which preventive medical tests they need to get and when to get them. I am helping to get the word out with this simple blog post and am hoping that you may spread the word as well. Let your friends, family and especially all the men in your life about this simple program. It could save a life.
It's simple:
*Send all of the men in your life this special ecard for Father's Day- http://www.dadtothedoc.org/
*Ask your husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, etc to take this easy health quiz.
*Encourage all the men you know to visit:
http://www.ahrq.gov/healthymen/ which provides recommended ages for preventive medical tests, a health care quiz designed to test knowledge of preventive health care, tips for talking with doctors, a glossary of consumer health terms, and links to online resources to find more medical information. Make sure to keep an eye out for PSA's encouraging dad's to take care of their health.
*Tweet about the men's preventive health campaign sharing these links in your tweets. Let your followers know just how important this truly is.
http://www.dadtothedoc.org/ The hashtag for this campaign is #dadtothedoc
*This campaign is on Facebook. If you are on Facebook, please let your friends know about this special campaign as well and let them know about the incredible resources available.
*Sit down with then men in your life and take a look at the tools together that they need for a healthy future. Send the health ecard to remind the men you love about protecting his health not only on this upcoming Father's Day but for many, many days and years to come. Spreading the message together, we can make a difference and think of all the lives we can save.
Please take the time and help with this special campaign. I couldn't be without my husband, could you be without the special men in your life. Spread the word!
Disclosure-I received no monetary compensation for posting about this campaign. Information provided by Global Influence, AHRQ and the Ad Council.
Five Question Friday

1. If you could go back to college would you change your major? Or, if you were to go to college right now...what major would you choose? I never went to college after high school, I always said I would wait a year and then go, but that never happened unfortunately. I always wanted to major in sports broadcasting when I was back in high school and still would go after that major today if I went back to college. I love sports and this would be a blast to be able to do.
2. What do you love most about your home? What I love most about my home is the backyard area. It is big and if you go back far enough, we have everything set up with a firepit and tables so we can go back and hangout in complete privacy.
3. What types of books do you like to read (if you like to read at all)? I love reading romance novels from authors such as Jackie Collins (my absolute fave) and Carly Phillips. I also love suspense novels from V.C Andrews and Dean Koontz. I am currently reading the first book that I have read in almost 3 years, there just doesn't seems to be a whole lot of time to read nowadays.
4. What is the grossest thing you've ever eaten?Liver and Onions when I was a kid, that was just plain nasty but my mother and grandmother cooked it all of the time. GROSS!
5. If you HAD to be a character on a TV show, whom would you be? I would love to be the character of Sarah on the TV show Chuck. Not only is she beautiful, but that looks like a real fun character to play, it would be cool playing a CIA spy, plus you get to be romantically involved with Chuck, who is a little cutie.
